Every working citizen of Isotelus Complex has been "forked" – a copy of their mind made and loaded into a chitinous labor body on the surface while their baseline original works in orbit.

The Complex is falling apart even as it’s being built. The space elevator hits its maximum safe stress level with every launch. Three ComSec rent-a-cops threw a dockworker out an airlock. Radical pamphlets spread like wildfire.

As the first colonists arrive and the labor bodies reach the end of their lifespans, things will only get worse, giving the players opportunities to bug offices, forge rumors, smuggle illegal goods, start riots, and assassinate officials.
