Broken Ruler Games presents a world that was once beautiful, young, and fertile, full of hope and opportunity. Humanity lived as the chosen ones of their creators, enjoying a lavish lifestyle until the All-Father revealed his jealousy. His wrath nearly wiped them out. Now they are enslaved and oppressed, surviving in the Five Cities or risking everything in the Wastes.

Yet some call no place home. They wander between all lands, living by their own rules. Will any of them rise to become the mysterious heroes this world so desperately needs?

Built using the ScreenPlay engine, High Plains Samurai is a collaborative story game where all players share in the storytelling. Writers create and drive the story through their lead characters, while the Director reacts, challenges, and adds tension. Every description pushes the action forward, while other players shape outcomes, add details, and even decide the fate of characters.

In this world, dice do not measure success or failure—they represent complications against your enemies. Characters roll dice based on descriptive details versus an opponent’s Defence, determining who chooses the enemy’s fate. Each complication becomes part of the story, countered only by spending Vitality until nothing remains… or the battle ends. Death is the ultimate complication.
