The Island of Dr. Moreau (IoDM) is a campaign horror/romance roleplaying game for a GM and 2–6 players where one player leads the story as Dr. Moreau, guiding and clashing with the other players in the roles of the doctor's unlucky guests subjects! Slowly being altered by Moreau's mad science, these “Islanders” must overcome dangerous adversaries both within the Lab and stalking the jungle, all while finding love in the strangest places. As the erosion of Dr. Moreau's authority brings the taste of freedom ever closer, it also carries the harsh realities of survival on a remote island inhabited by man-made monsters.
The only way to escape is together.
Set in 2005, IoDM seeks to emulate the messy drama of online forum roleplaying in the early internet, with a dash of captive body horror. It's Lost combined with Love Island, working with a large cast in a small setting. Each player can control multiple characters, even powerful staff members and outsiders, encouraging cooperative yet asymmetric story building. Players use a deck of poker or tarot cards to progress the story with a light-weight system, where every character is represented by a unique card. IoDM is a capsule game: an entirely self-contained setting and cast of characters. Enjoy a tight, focused campaign of 20–30 sessions and ready to play from page one!
IoDM is written by Dr. Ulysses Duckler, with contributions from Arania, Marquis Orias, Ewen Albright (Author of InaES), Darling Demon Eclipse (Author of Sapphicworld & Biotrophication), IFeelOdd (Author of Roadkill City) and Naomi Maratea (Writer for Wild Ties & CDR).
Layout and editing by Luna and Angrboda.
Artists include: Arania, Fletch, Sara Olsen, Mel Echavarria (Artist for To Change), Angrboda, Bunkka, Lawros, HIBI, BlackSheepTFs, Redacted, Michel0dy (Artist for Wild Ties), StrawberryTF, and Sera-fuku. Additional non-TF art by Winter Skye, Bianca Gazzingan, and Snowy.
Funded on Kickstarter. The original moderators of the GAIA IoDM roleplay group - Arania, Kamaki, and Trinantula - are executive producers and have approved use of the IoDM concept.
